General Staff Senate Meeting - Speaker view
Sen. Ann Bartts
22:00
What lot do they park in with the Single permit?
Sen. Allison Peeler
22:39
Single-semester permits are student only, correct?
Jill Stover
23:00
I have a concern about students parking in the reserved spots (particularly near the dorms) at times they shouldn't be. Why did the cost of the tickets for this go down? What else can you do to encourage them not to do this?
Sen. Allison Peeler
23:02
Okay, thank you.
Sen. George Stieren
24:03
The Highland Street Garage is available on a semester basis for faculty and staff.

thanks bill! great to hear from you!
Sen. James Jackson (he/him)

I have two constituency concerns:1. Whether or not the university is supportive of a civility code to address bullying among employees.2. If/how the administration is going to allow flexibility on work hours and/or work from home situations for staff as we return to a face-to-face atmosphere on campus.
Sen. Adam Chavez
34:07
One constituency concern: Any update regarding the UNT Faculty/Staff/Retiree/Dependent Educational Scholarship and its possible decrease in tuition support?
Jill Stover
34:08
A question has come up recently in the Faculty Senate which I also had wondered about. Someone asked if the staff and administrator salaries can be posted (presumably on the SS website) since these are public information items. TheFaculty Senate already does this for (individual) faculty salaries.

Sen. Allison Peeler

Summer for staff "first flight week!" June or July. Just my two cents. Maybe call it "Staff Soars" or something like that. I'll keep thinking.
Sen. Allison Peeler
51:04
UNT Staff Soars
Sen. Adam Chavez
55:00
Great ideas Allison!
Sen. Allison Peeler
56:15
Thank you :)
Sen. Charlotte Cooke
56:37
I do like the Staff Soars and will put that time frame in consideration. Thank you Allison for the suggestion!
Sen. Allison Peeler
56:50
Sure thing. Just putting things out there!
Sen. Liz Berry (she/her)
58:46
I think the concern was that summer in general is too busy (advisors and OTP are way overwhelmed during that part of the year), so he's probably thinking more along the lines of early-mid September
Sen. Allison Peeler
01:01:21
welcome!
Sen. Adam Chavez
01:01:24
Sorry everyone for the internet lag!
Sen. Lee Davis
01:02:10
Welcome new Senators!
Sen. Charlotte Cooke
01:02:37
Glad to have you Sen. Jamie Brand with us and Congrats to our new senators.
Sen. Jamie Brand
01:02:44
Thank you!
Jill Stover
01:05:22
Is the supervisor approval form just a formality? It doesn't seem quite right that someone should be able to tell you that you can't run for a position. If it is more of a courtesy/just letting your supervisor know you are going to do it, that makes some sense.
Sen Devin Axtman (he/him/his)
01:07:18
Good question! This is in our procedures: "Eligible individuals shall seek permission from their immediate supervisor to serve on the Staff Senate." The Supervisor Approval Form is our way to get that permission
Sen. Dana Sachs
01:08:09
I will not be able to attend our sub-committee meeting. I have another commitment at 4:00.
Jill Stover
01:08:15
Thanks for the explanation. Just seems like you shouldn't have to ask "permission" to do university service.
Sen. Lee Davis
01:08:21
Great work Sen. Chavez!
Sen. Liz Berry (she/her)
01:08:29
It's to ensure that staff members who are already very busy don't end up falling behind on their required job duties
Sen. Adam Chavez
01:08:52
Thank you Sen. Davis! Kudos to you on our Success templates.

Sen. Liz Berry (she/her)
01:09:40
We've unfortunately had senators who have had to leave mid-term before due to overwhelming job duties, so this is built into our formal procedure to ensure it doesn't happen often
Sen. Katie Hebert (a bear) She/Her
01:11:24
Glad to have you back Quortina!
Sen. Quortina Phipps (She/Her/Hers)
01:12:37
