E. Bailey Sterling - GSC Rep
Hi there, I am Bailey Sterling, the new Representative from Graduate Student Council
Hello everyone! Good to see you "back".
I will answer a few questions that came in - in advance of the meeting: 9. Faculty are needing support from CLEAR on the weekends, especially in the days before a new semester starts; can we get that? Mon - Friday 7am to 11pmNext two Saturdays: Saturday 7:30am - 6pmFor Canvas - https://clear.unt.edu/services/lms-support - We are available until 9pm M-TH and Saturdays 11-3
are we recording?
As it relates to the Canvas problems that are being experienced, we are updating this website as information becomes available. This is a national problem and the CLEAR team is working with Canvas to resolve ASAP: https://status.instructure.com/
Meeting is being recorded.
I have a small question.
Senators if you have a question, please raise ZOOM hand if you can.
Please also feel free to ask questions in “chat.”
I have an update on the Canvas situation whenever you are ready for this in the agenda.
Can the COVID-19 dashboard show a graph over time of active cases so we can see the progression of cases in the UNT community?
Erin - there will be prior week's postings in the near future. But the key is active cases aren't additive week to week as there may be crossover with a person being active in two weeks.
Here is the link to the COVID Dashboard: https://healthalerts.unt.edu/return/cases

Is any testing being done of students living in the Greek houses?
I'm glad to hear that there is some thought of doing random testing of students in at least some situations. I would encourage us to do a lot more of this, since infected individuals can spread it for days before symptoms show up (if they ever do). For example, UT-Austin has said they plan to test 5000 people randomly each week, and Illinois (where my son is a sophomore) is requiring anybody who will be on campus to take two tests each week at free university test centers.
We will test randomly looking for hot spots all fall. This will give us advance notice of any flare ups
Can student groups meet off campus?
Thanks for all you do....I wish you all a great and healthy start to the new year. I appreciate all you are doing to show how much UNT cares.
Is the UNT Health Center working with us on testing?

Any guidelines on how to advise faculty who are not medical professionals to perhaps *not* share their beliefs of what is or is not a risk for colleagues or students?
Thank you, everyone.
