I'm going to see about us (GSC) designing some masks for dispersal to students.

Put a wire in your mask over your nose so it fits tightly. This keeps glasses from fogging up.

Tiffany, we are acquiring lots of masks and are working on distribution plan.

Yes, the little blue ones have wires sewn in. Put glasses on outside.

How about graduation at Texas Motor Speedway?

Tiffany: Can't guarantee we'll be able to have them for every student but like we give away t-shirts and other items - masks will be in the mix.

Both Texas Speedway or Cowboy Stadium are great locations to consider!

I had forging problem. Try to tighten mask on the top portion and leave some space on the bottom so that air get out from bottom part.

Disability is not the only reason that people may feel uncomfortable. They may also be caretakers.

We understand that many people live with those who are in high risk groups…

Office of Disability Access will likely require diagnostic paperwork/doctor's note. Will students get the syllabus early enough to make these arrangements?

Would we want to include some language about why masks are being required, i.e., to protect the immunocompromised and their families?

It will be important to emphasize that wearing of masks is to protect others, and not protect self per se. Will this content be added to the guidelines?

Also there is a conflict between what studies say about wearing masks IN ADDITION to do 6 foot distance vs. the university’s stance on wearing masks if less than 6 foot distance.

It took about 10 minutes. It’s not painful at all. Did it thing morning after receiving the email.

Should we include student Covid-19 training as a course element? Like a syllabus quiz?

We are strongly recommending that people wear masks when in the presence of others…even if they re more than 6ft apart.

Since everyone has to take the training it may be redundant…but, explaining the social responsibility elements and our expectations is a great idea

Ideally, we would allow the student to take the on-line test when they are available. Is there a way to prevent students from making a picture of the test questions and share them with classmates who have not yet opened the exam.

For Paul - if you use the respondus than it is tracking eye movement so you can't use two computers and phones etc.

Dale - I agree this is a problem with timing of test - it means you will need to think through timing window of exams.

Any thoughts about using a system that WILL with Chromebooks?? Respondus does not work with Chromebook, from what I understand.

Just another note - I know there is a desire for faculty to have in person exams for their remote classes. We are working on lab solutions - note that due to challenges of spacing this may mean we need to do exams on weekends if this is a desired option.

Stay tuned about in-person exams in labs, we expect to have guidance in the coming weeks.

Monitor requires a webcam! Are we going to require that students have webcams to take our exams?

Jason, that is definitely allowed for the fall.

Remote and online classes can require webcams

So here is good news Jason - we couldn't require students to incur additional expenses when we went remote. BUT since it is new semester and we can set expectations for class materials - including a webcam.

Sounds like we need a committee on academic integrity..

Some students do not have web cam or camera or if they have that they claimed it did not work during exam.

I would love to see resources that help create a culture of responsibility in our courses to discourage cheating. Technology and other methods are great tools, but I would like to find ways to be less adversarial in terms of dealing with my students. I also worry that the tighter we try to control the technology, the more we may harm students who might already be disadvantaged. I would welcome any resources that help with this issue.

Hi Lee. Very well stated! We are currently working on an Academic Integrity module that students could be “required” to take/pass to proceed with the course. No one solution will be THE solution, so our thoughts are to come at the issue from multiple angles.

Seems that faculty should have input at the lowest level intillay./

As for your question - not in this policy - but of course all courses and curriculum flows through the faculty senate undergraduate curriculum committee - or through grad council.
