Jennifer Lane
49:38
Also so many thanks to Kevin for his amazing leadership of the EC this year.
Jennifer Lane
56:22
Can we have that last comment from President Smatresk about “if anyone is intimidated” in print please.
Tiffany Miller
56:50
I'm going to see about us (GSC) designing some masks for dispersal to students.
Kimberly Moreland
57:05
Put a wire in your mask over your nose so it fits tightly. This keeps glasses from fogging up.
Jennifer Cowley
57:25
Tiffany, we are acquiring lots of masks and are working on distribution plan.
Jennifer Lane
57:32
Yes, the little blue ones have wires sewn in. Put glasses on outside.
Tiffany Miller
57:39
Excellent!
Michael Sexton
58:09
How about graduation at Texas Motor Speedway?
Jennifer Cowley
58:22
Tiffany: Can't guarantee we'll be able to have them for every student but like we give away t-shirts and other items - masks will be in the mix.
Smita Mehta
58:24
That's very nice, Dr. Cowley!
Jennifer Cowley
58:44
Anticipate every faculty/staff member will receive 2 masks.
Jennifer Cowley
59:29
Michael: We are exploring Texas Motor Speedway, Cowboys Stadium etc as options for when we can do in-person graduations
Denise Catalano
01:00:45
Both Texas Speedway or Cowboy Stadium are great locations to consider!
farhadshahrokhi
01:00:48
I had forging problem. Try to tighten mask on the top portion and leave some space on the bottom so that air get out from bottom part.
Tiffany Miller
01:01:30
Provost Cowley, if you can email me the number y'all are getting, I can purchase extra.
Nancy Stockdale
01:03:40
Disability is not the only reason that people may feel uncomfortable. They may also be caretakers.
Neal Smatresk
01:04:18
We understand that many people live with those who are in high risk groups…
Erin O'Toole
01:04:42
Office of Disability Access will likely require diagnostic paperwork/doctor's note. Will students get the syllabus early enough to make these arrangements?
Nancy Stockdale
01:04:43
Thank you so much for addressing this.
Nancy Stockdale
01:06:01
That's really great news, thank you! The privacy issues have been stressing a lot of people.
Kimberly Moreland
01:06:59
Would we want to include some language about why masks are being required, i.e., to protect the immunocompromised and their families?
Gloria Olness
01:07:12
It will be important to emphasize that wearing of masks is to protect others, and not protect self per se. Will this content be added to the guidelines?
Jennifer Lane
01:07:30
Nancy Stockade’s question is vitally important.
Smita Mehta
01:07:33
Good point, Gloria.
Jennifer Lane
01:07:42
*Stockdale
Neal Smatresk
01:07:56
I will address in a minute
Sophie Morton
01:08:22
Is there a deadline to provide medical documentation to HR when requesting to teach online?
Nancy Stockdale
01:08:29
I did the training today and I thought it was very well done
Denise Catalano
01:08:45
Thanks Nancy- that’s good information to share.
Scott Belshaw
01:08:47
I completed it today.. pretty good!
Jennifer Cowley
01:08:48
Thanks Nancy - I will pass that along - I did it today too :)
Jennifer Lane
01:09:04
Also there is a conflict between what studies say about wearing masks IN ADDITION to do 6 foot distance vs. the university’s stance on wearing masks if less than 6 foot distance.
Jason McAfee
01:09:05
It took about 10 minutes. It’s not painful at all. Did it thing morning after receiving the email.
Jennifer Cowley
01:09:07
Sophie - no deadline at this point since we don't yet have the process finalized. Stay tuned.
Sophie Morton
01:09:30
Thanks
Lee Hughes
01:10:20
Just sing the UNT Fight Song when you wash your hands and you'll wash long enough.
Smita Mehta
01:10:53
Lee, I can picture you singing!
Michael Sexton
01:11:28
Should we include student Covid-19 training as a course element? Like a syllabus quiz?
Neal Smatresk
01:11:47
We are strongly recommending that people wear masks when in the presence of others…even if they re more than 6ft apart.
Neal Smatresk
01:12:58
Since everyone has to take the training it may be redundant…but, explaining the social responsibility elements and our expectations is a great idea
Jennifer Lane
01:15:38
We are unusually fortunate
Gloria Olness
01:16:19
Agree wholeheartedly with Denise. Thank you.
Jennifer Cowley
01:28:40
John and the rest of the committee has done herculean work to get this far this fast!
Denise Catalano
01:28:58
absolutely agree - right person in the right place at the right time
Jennifer Lane
01:29:38
Yay Bertina!
Jennifer Lane
01:29:52
Thank you John Quintanilla!
Jennifer Cowley
01:35:59
I encourage anyone who has specific topics that they want to see included in the program to let Bertina know.
Jennifer Lane
01:37:35
Great
Kimberly Moreland
01:38:21
Thanks so much, Bertina! This sounds like a fantastic approach.
deyeatts
01:45:43
Ideally, we would allow the student to take the on-line test when they are available. Is there a way to prevent students from making a picture of the test questions and share them with classmates who have not yet opened the exam.
Jennifer Cowley
01:46:48
For Paul - if you use the respondus than it is tracking eye movement so you can't use two computers and phones etc.
Jennifer Cowley
01:48:16
Dale - I agree this is a problem with timing of test - it means you will need to think through timing window of exams.
Lee Hughes
01:48:51
-
Kevin Yanowski
01:50:22
Please remember to keep yourself muted unless you are speaking. Thanks! :)
Jason McAfee
01:50:53
Any thoughts about using a system that WILL with Chromebooks?? Respondus does not work with Chromebook, from what I understand.
Jennifer Cowley
01:51:46
Just another note - I know there is a desire for faculty to have in person exams for their remote classes. We are working on lab solutions - note that due to challenges of spacing this may mean we need to do exams on weekends if this is a desired option.
Jennifer Cowley
01:52:29
Stay tuned about in-person exams in labs, we expect to have guidance in the coming weeks.
William Cherry
01:54:05
No one wants to conclude that onine learning is more effective?
Jason McAfee
01:54:46
Monitor requires a webcam! Are we going to require that students have webcams to take our exams?
William Cherry
01:55:03
Jason, that is definitely allowed for the fall.
William Cherry
01:55:15
Remote and online classes can require webcams
Jennifer Cowley
01:55:28
So here is good news Jason - we couldn't require students to incur additional expenses when we went remote. BUT since it is new semester and we can set expectations for class materials - including a webcam.
Scott Belshaw
01:55:48
Sounds like we need a committee on academic integrity..
Jennifer Cowley
01:56:02
We have an academic integrity office :)
Jason McAfee
01:56:03
Thank you Jennifer for that update.
farhadshahrokhi
01:56:08
Some students do not have web cam or camera or if they have that they claimed it did not work during exam.
Lee Hughes
01:56:09
I would love to see resources that help create a culture of responsibility in our courses to discourage cheating. Technology and other methods are great tools, but I would like to find ways to be less adversarial in terms of dealing with my students. I also worry that the tighter we try to control the technology, the more we may harm students who might already be disadvantaged. I would welcome any resources that help with this issue.
Paul D. Hutchison
01:56:45
Provost Cowley...I would be willing to be on that committee.
Kimberly Moreland
01:56:56
Well said, Lee.
Tiffany Miller
01:57:04
I concur with Dr. Hughes.
James M. Martin
01:57:12
Agreed Lee.
Daniel Peak
01:57:14
Me too
Lee Hughes
01:57:25
Thank you, Adam and Rudi.
Sophie Morton
01:57:30
I concur with Lee.
Adam Fein
01:57:41
thanks everyone!
Paul D. Hutchison
01:58:10
Thank you Adam and Rudi.
Scott Belshaw
01:58:17
Jennifer: I know.. Just a committee that will collect faculty problems and help get answers..
James M. Martin
01:58:21
Adam and Rudi - Is there a good time to contact you about a class that was already heavily tech based before going online? I have a few more things that will need your input.
Linda Stromberg
01:58:49
Thank you Lee--well said.
William Cherry
01:58:51
Barbara, you are hard to hear
Jennifer Cowley
01:58:59
https://vpaa.unt.edu/fs/resources/academic/integrity Be sure to include Karen Weiller-Ables in academic integrity conversations.
Linda Stromberg
01:59:36
Still very hard to hear.
Daniel Peak
01:59:50
very hard to understand
Elizabeth Oldmixon
01:59:50
My pleasure!
Denise Catalano
02:00:22
The Exec Committee has discussed having Karen come next Fall to provide information on the Academic Integrity process
Elizabeth Oldmixon
02:00:28
Jill -- 06.037 doesn't look like it shows where the changes where tracked.
Gloria Olness
02:01:22
Since we are out of time for comments/input:--We need to brainstorm on a two-pronged set of solutions here: One based on technological re-design (through CLEAR) and one based on pedagogical/testing re-design (through our faculty). For instance faculty can re-design the way they test to dovetail with the technological medium of testing (dual re-design to minimize testing).
Paul D. Hutchison
02:02:01
Good points, Gloria!
Gloria Olness
02:02:14

Linda Stromberg
02:02:39
Elizabeth--can you just summarize the main idea of this policy
Jill Stover
02:02:50
Everyone received this last month and on Monday with the Outlook invitation
Linda Stromberg
02:03:53
So if our certificate is already approved by the coordinating board, we are ok?
farhadshahrokhi
02:04:26
Where would faculty be involved in the process (if at all)
Linda Stromberg
02:04:29
ok
Rudi Thompson
02:05:29
Hi Lee. Very well stated! We are currently working on an Academic Integrity module that students could be “required” to take/pass to proceed with the course. No one solution will be THE solution, so our thoughts are to come at the issue from multiple angles.
farhadshahrokhi
02:06:01
Seems that faculty should have input at the lowest level intillay./
Jennifer Cowley
02:06:05
As for your question - not in this policy - but of course all courses and curriculum flows through the faculty senate undergraduate curriculum committee - or through grad council.
Lee Hughes
02:06:43
Thank you, Rudi. That is great to know.
jorgeaviles-diz
02:07:49

No problem!
Lee Hughes
02:22:45
Should we hold off on filling the At-Large openings in the Committee on the Status of People of Color until the reorganization is complete? I would prefer that.
Lee Hughes
02:23:11
Ok - that makes sense.
Nancy Stockdale
02:23:57
I'm still on it
Lee Hughes
02:26:04
David is already on the committee and seeking to continue.
